About the Event
There's nothing like holding a copy of your own book in your hand
At Draft2Digital, we want to help authors understand the value and importance of print books, as well as learn what goes in to making a print book.
That’s why we’re the replay from our one-day virtual conference from April 2025 to help authors understand all about print books.

Conference Sessions
Each session contains a half an hour of presentation/discussion followed by 15 minutes of Q&A from the live viewing audience that was in attendance that day.

Introduction to Print Books for Indie Authors
In this session you’ll be presented with a high-level overview of the publishing world and how it operates in relation to print books. You’ll learn what Print-on-Demand (POD) is, how it works within the industry, and how this technology enables authors to be able to make their own print books available not just for their own use, but to a global market. You’ll also get a look at all of the print options that exist and how you as an indie author can leverage them.

How hard can it be to get a print book made? We’ll show you what Draft2Digital has created to remove many of the barriers in your way by providing an all-in-one free solution. We’ll provide a detailed exploration of D2D Print, how it works, and share a step-by-step detailed walk-thru of actually publishing a new book.

Formatting & Design Options
What are the tools, options, and services available for getting your manuscript print-ready? This panel discussion and exploration of easily accessible tools available for authors to use will cover free options as well as paid services. This session will lay out an overview of options available and include insights about industry tools with guests from Vellum and Atticus to explore how authors can leverage the services they offer for formatting beautiful print books.

Cover Design Best Practices
A good cover is far more than a great piece of art. It’s a statement and a promise to the ideal reader of a particular topic area or genre. This panel discussion and exploration of cover design will include a couple of designers sharing what works, why, and how they work with authors.

An interview with Nick Thacker exploring what Bookcovers.com is and how authors can leverage it in their goal of finding professional quality cover design by designers from around the world at an affordable price and leveraging a bit more of a DIY indie author ethic.

Strategies For Marketing Your Print Books
A panel discussion with authors and industry insiders about different strategies that authors can use when marketing print books, both online as well as at in person events. Panelists will include Katie Cross, Todd Fahnestock, Lydia Sherrer, and Johnny B. Truant.

End of Day Open Q&A
An open Q&A opportunity for authors to ask questions about anything related to print books or any of the day’s topics and sessions. Guests and panelists from earlier in the day are invited (but not required) to attend to answer questions.
