If you’re publishing new books or making changes, there could be delays.

For best results, submit your requests no later than December 6th to make sure they’ll be live by Christmas.

Christmas and the New Year are creeping up on us and we wanted to give you an early warning that these holidays will affect publishing times.

Christmas falls on Wednesday this year, so our offices will be closed on  Wednesday, December 25, through the weekend. Normal hours will resume on Monday, December 30-31.

Offices will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1 in observance of the New Year.

We expect that the flurry of pre-Christmas releases and the special holiday hours at our partner stores will result in some delays. If possible, plan ahead and submit any changes or listing requests by December 6th to ensure the changes get published before the break.

We have received additional details directly from several of our partners:

APPLE BOOKS
Apple’s publishing systems will be experiencing additional delays from mid-December through early January. To help you in planning release dates around this period you may use the following schedule:

  • Release dates from December 13 to 20 have a delivery deadline of
    Friday, December 6.
  • Release dates from December 27 to January 3 have a delivery deadline of
    Friday, December 13.

All submissions must be submitted prior to midnight (PST) on the dates above.

Due to the high volume of deliveries and updates they receive during this time of year, Apple does not recommend making changes between December 20 and December 27.

BARNES & NOBLE
Book submissions and metadata changes supplied to Barnes & Noble from Draft2Digital are processed the next business day.

B&N will be closed December 25 and January 1 with limited support in between.

No files will process and there will be no direct support on days when closed. Also during this time you may experience review slowdowns, and slowdowns following those dates as B&N deals with backlog.

However, automated delivery will continue 24/7 through the holiday period.

RAKUTEN KOBO
Kobo offices will be closed December 25 and January 1. Additionally, they will have limited support from December 20 thru January 6.

Metadata and digital files will be loaded 24/7 over the holidays however there will be a lot of data flowing through their system which may cause updates to take longer.

We recommend getting everything submitted by December 6 when possible.

SCRIBD
Scribd have announced limited support over the break (which greatly restricts how much our Customer Support can assist you with problems at their stores). There will be no server outages or closures but only emergency support between December 25 and January 1.

TOLINO
No imports processed from December 22 to December 26 and December 28 thru January 2.

Additionally, Tolino recommends only sending important uploads between December 18 and January 5.

Offices will be closed for holidays from December 24 thru December 26 as well as December 31 and January 1.

AMAZON
Amazon Support will be closed on December 25 and January 1. To ensure against potential delays in file review and other processing, we recommend submitting your books prior to December 6.

Due to the volume of submissions during the holiday season, we expect other vendors will take longer than usual to implement changes and to publish new works. However, there are no confirmed or planned publishing delays.

Preorders scheduled during these periods will go live as expected, provided we have final manuscripts in and approved before the cutoff date of December 6. We highly recommend getting us final files as early as possible.

Happy Holidays,
The Draft2Digital Team
