We’re thrilled to introduce you to Draft2Digital’s newest retail partner, Fable. Who is Fable, you ask? Fable is an online bookstore and social reading app that powers tens of thousands of online book clubs. Founded in 2021 by tech industry veteran Padmasree Warrior, the venture-backed company already lists 25,000 book clubs, 650,000 active readers (this number doubled in the last year) and 200 influencer partners from the likes BookTok, BookTube and Bookstagram. The store lists over a million titles from every one of the Big 5 and key independent publishers, but Draft2Digital is the first to supply titles from indie authors!

Draft2Digital authors and publishers will receive the same ebook royalty rate they currently receive from other notable ebook retailers in Draft2Digital’s partner network.

What the D2D/Fable partnership means for YOU:

  • Connections with Readers and Influencers – Fable is home to over 650,000 members and 25,000 book clubs. More than 200 influencers from TikTok, YouTube and Instagram operate and promote their Fable book clubs, amplifying the reach of Fable to hundreds of thousands of readers. Authors can join existing book clubs or start their own.
  • Dedicated Indie Author Merchandising – Coming soon, the Fable bookstore will introduce a highly placed, ongoing merchandising feature dedicated to spotlighting bestselling indie authors from Draft2Digital. Other indie-focused merchandising is also under consideration.
  • Promotional Opportunities – Author initiated eARC Giveaway Clubs help build buzz to generate preorder sales prior to new book releases; Pub Day Clubs, similar to eARC clubs, incentivize readers to talk about a just-released book and read alongside the author. Insights such as most highlighted quotes, ratings, reviews, and reactions will be reported to Draft2Digital’s promotions team who will relay it to the author.

How to distribute your books to Fable

The next time you log onto your account, you’ll see a pop-up notification. This should let you know about this new retail destination, and asking you if you want to opt-in. You can choose to distribute a single title or all of your books. Smashwords authors who have received an eligibility notification to migrate their books to Draft2Digital are encouraged to do so in order to get their books onto Fable’s bookstore shelves.
